Who was Art Bell?
The Man Who Owned the Night
1945–2018

One microphone. Millions of listeners. Countless unforgettable nights.
Before podcasts, before streaming, and before the internet changed everything, there was a man broadcasting from a small studio in the Nevada desert who captivated millions of late-night listeners.
His name was Art Bell.
Art was the legendary founder and original host of Coast to Coast AM, one of America’s most extraordinary overnight radio programs.
Broadcasting from Pahrump, Nevada, he opened his microphone to scientists, astronomers, UFO researchers, conspiracy theorists, and ordinary people with extraordinary stories.
Nothing was too strange to discuss.
Alien encounters. Time travel. Ghosts. Secret government experiments. The mysteries of the universe.
But what made Art special wasn’t simply the subject matter.
It was the way he made you feel.
Whether you were driving across America at three in the morning, working the night shift, or sitting alone in your living room, Art had an extraordinary ability to make you feel like you were part of the conversation.
He was curious, funny, occasionally skeptical, and completely unpredictable.
Sometimes the stories were unbelievable. Sometimes the callers were hilarious. And sometimes you found yourself sitting in your car long after arriving home because you simply couldn’t stop listening.
Art Bell didn’t just broadcast into the night. He kept people company through it.
Today, his recordings continue to attract listeners who appreciate something increasingly rare: fascinating conversations that are allowed to unfold naturally.
And now, WDORO NIGHTSHIFT brings that extraordinary radio experience to a new generation.

Historical dates, guest appearances, provenance and recording-specific evidence remain available in the Art Bell Collection. A historical reference is not a promise that an interview is in the current broadcast rotation.
